FAQs
What time do we need to be there on the evening prior to the course?
There is usually no meeting on the evening prior to the course, unless specified. We usually meet at 09.00hrs prompt on the first morning. On some courses we will meet at the venue at a time to be confirmed.
Where are the courses based?
ML courses are based at Badaguish, near Aviemore, in the Cairngorms, with a variety of venues being used. RCI, CWI and CWDI courses are flexible: Email us for exact details of venues. As a guideline, RCI courses tend to be on the Moray coast and near Grantown, CWI courses tend to be based in Aberdeen and CWDI in Aberlour.
Are they easy to get to?
Yes, the A9 is a fast road, giving easy access from the south by car or coach. Rail links are good to Aviemore and beyond and Inverness and Aberdeen airports provide other options.
What accommodation do most people go for?
Any, to suit your pocket or requirements. Badaguish Outdoor Centre, which is our base for most of the ML courses, offers a variety of accommodation options on site and there are many other options nearby. Further information on this will be included in your course confirmation.
What equipment do we have to bring?
Everything is supplied, apart from boots and personal clothing. If you have your own gear it would be a good idea to bring it and use it. Feel free to call us to discuss any equipment that you may wish to use or purchases that you are intending to make.
How do I book?
The easiest is to use the online booking form on the website. ‘Phone bookings can be pencilled in for five working days, subject to a booking form being received within that time.
Am I fit enough?
We are not looking for super-human fitness, just a good general level! Have a look at the outline details for your course and decide from there: you are probably fitter than you imagine!
How do I pay?
Cash, cheque, BACS or PayPal are all fine. There are links from the page generated once a booking form has been submitted.
When is the balance due?
Bookings need to be accompanied shortly afterwards by a deposit of £100 per person. Full payment must be made 6 weeks (42 days) prior to the first day of the course, or immediately in the case of a last-minute booking or for RCI, CWI and CWDI courses.
What is included in the cost?
Instruction, use of specialised equipment and course handouts where applicable.
Do I need insurance?
This is highly recommended. It should cover cancellation as well as personal injury and loss of equipment.
